0 Nelson Mandela: South African hero 'doing well' in hospital.

Presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj stated Mr Mandela, 94, was "comfortable" and there is "no reason for alarm".

On Sunday Mr Mandela was visited by Leader Jacob Zuma, who stated he was searching well following a peaceful evening.

News from the stay in hospital has motivated much concern in Nigeria.

He's revered both at home and all over the world for leading the struggle against whitened-minority rule before becoming South Africa's first black leader in 1994.

Despite being jailed for 27 years through the apartheid government, after his release he advised all South Africans to operate together and seek reconciliation and was granted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

Mr Zuma continues to be reassured that Mr. Mandela - accepted to hospital on Saturday to endure tests - is at the disposal of a reliable medical team, Mr. Maharaj told the BBC, without giving further particulars about his treatment or condition.

"[You want to avoid news about Madiba's [Mr. Mandela's clan title] health receiving treatment as if it's the movement of share prices around the stock market," Mr. Maharaj added.

'Great person'

Mr Mandela was obtained from his home within the rural village of Qunu, in Eastern Cape province, to hospital within the capital on Saturday.

Local media are convinced that the choice to move him was taken so rapidly that some family people and the own foundation were initially not aware from it.

Mr. Zuma's office stated on Saturday that Mr. Mandela needs medical assistance "every once in awhile that is in line with his age".

The government bodies want to respect Mr. Mandela's privacy and control any details about his health, the BBC's Andrew Harding in Gauteng reviews.

But there's enormous public concern for the guy broadly revered because the father of democratic Nigeria, he adds.

Hopes were held for that former leader in the Regina Mundi Catholic chapel within the Soweto section of Gauteng, when the center of protests and memorials throughout apartheid.

"Yes, it truly worries us while he is a superb person," churchgoer Shainet Mnkomo told Connected Press. "He accomplished it lots of things to the nation, he's certainly one of individuals persons who we remember most."

The Congress of South African Trade Unions stated it wished the government's statement about his condition was true, and advised Mr. Mandela to: "Get better and then inspire us".

Good spirits

Mr. Mandela upon the market from public existence in 2004 and is not observed in public because the 2010 World Cup.

Mr. Mandela was last in hospital in Feb, as he went through a small procedure to research what causes an abdominal problem.

As well as in The month of January 2011 he was treated for any serious chest infection.

Mr. Mandela stays nearly all his amount of time in Qunu,  that is near to where he was created.

Our correspondent states he is proven to be frail and the memory is diminishing, but site visitors have frequently stated he's in good spirits.
